It is a foam filter. It sounds like the filter has to much oil on it.

Your right. The gear lever does hit the frame when moved down one spline. I use it in thee standard position. The brake lever can be lowered by removing the locknut from the pushrod. It is messy but can be done.

There is one bolt at the front of the tank to remove. Carefully lift up the front of the tank and remove the two wiring looms. One on the left hand side and one on the right hand side. The ful line will also have to be removed, this is a tight squeeze. There is also a hose under the tank going from one side to the other. This has a quick release coupling in the middle behind the cylinder.
There is also two hoses coming out the front top of the tank. If you do not want to remove the filler from the tank cut the hoses and put in joiners.
The tank slides forward and up to remove it. -
That sight glass is leaking.
I changed the headlight bulb to a brand name one but this did not make a big difference. I also put mini relays on Hi beam, Low beam and the spot lights which have their own power from the battery.
I have also lowered the footpegs and moved them back 5mm with these home made brackets.
Made higher screen.
And currently making a new rack.

I like the black colour.
I would not say my sight glass was leaking but sweating. It is like the clutch cover gasket area. You would not know anything was leaking but for the dust.
My tyres have 8000 km and still have a little life left in them.
If I start the bike as soon as I turn the key on I dont have any issues with it not starting.
I do have after market mufflers fitted with the different tune. This may make a difference between our bikes starting.
I found the headlight very poor and fitted spot lights.
Love your pictures. It looks very cold. -

Your bike looks really nice Eve.
when you removed the carbon filter with solenoid valve was there any wiring going to it? If so what did you do with it? -
The Fastace forks on the SD are not the same as what was on the Husqvarna. The settings will be different.

I had these Australian made mufflers installed when I purchased the bike. They are very loud.
